Korea it is!

After weeks of deliberating, we've finally figured out where our child will come from. It was close race between finalists Kazakhstan, Korea, and Taiwan. We chose Korea for several reasons--babies are relatively young at placement (average 6 mos or so), it's the oldest international program and has a good reputation, their medical care is comprable to the U.S., and waiting babies are in foster care, not an orphanage. Also, travel is optional (though we want to go) and the trip to Korea is short (minimum is 3 business days). Some countries, including Kazakhstan, require a stay in country up to 6 weeks.
We also spent a lot of time talking to my coworker who has a 26yr old daughter from Korea. Also, our friend Steve was stationed in Korea with the army and fell in love with the place and the people. Ultimately, after reading and talking and praying, we both just realized Korea was the right choice.
Only one of the agencies we considered works in Korea--Wide Horizons.
We completed the initial agency application and mailed it in, with the initial fee, today.
