WHFC Info Meeting
Tuesday night we drove down to Orlando in preparation for our Wide Horizons for Children info meeting Wed. We stayed at a little botique hotel--The EO Inn. It's near Lake Eola downtown and walking distance to the library where the meeting was held. It was a nice relaxing mini-vacation. We had breakfast at the Panera adjacent to the hotel and wandered around the Lake. We even paddle boated in a giant swan. Then we had an early dinner with our friend Amy who lives nearby.
The info meeting was, well, informative. WHFC has programs in Russia, China (We are too young),Ethiopia, Columbia (wait list is so long they reccommend we go somewhere else), Korea, India, the Phillipines, Guatamala, and the Ukraine (no infants though). There was one family there already applying to Korea and another family with a little boy from Korea. Debra, the social worker we met at the other agency's meeting was there with her two little girls adopted from China. WHFC has been around since the 70s and, even though they are based in Mass, seem to work well with Florida families.
We left even more committed to adopting, but also more confused about from where.
